IBG Golf League 2018
The Race to Royal Dublin
The Race to Royal Dublin
The 2018 Order of Merit will be accompanied by a Golf League
The rationale for the golf league is to
The golf league will be based on the monthly outings.
Points will be allocated for individual stableford scores
Handicaps
Players will play of IBGA handicaps.
However, players with a handicap in excess of the maximum playing handicap for their category will be allocated extra shots up to 50% of the difference of the maximum and their actual handicap.
For example A player in sight category B3, and with an IBGA handicap 52.
IBGA handicap = 52
Maximum playing handicap = 36
Difference = 16
50% of the difference = 8
Playing handicap for the golf league = 36 + 8= 44.
The Scoring System
The winner from each outing will receive the maximum points based on the number of players in attendance on the day. All other players will be awarded points on a sliding scale, with the lowest score receiving only one point.
Example: If 8 players attend -
Winner gets 8points
2nd gets 7 points and so forth
Attendance
Each player will get a bonus point for attendance.
Disqualifications and no returns
Player will receive no points, and will forfeit their bonus point for attendance.
Fairness
Monthly winner will get cut 1 shot.
Prizes
The prizes for the golf league will be awarded at the final outing in November or December
First Prize: Christmas Hamper
Second etc. Christmas Vouchers
All members will receive a prize.
There will be a small prize each month for the winner and runner up
Order of Merit 2018
The Order of Merit will be awarded on the same basis as 2017, with a players top four stableford scores to count. The Order of Merit and not the Golf League will be used to select the Celtic Cup Team for 2019.
